Quick Review: Parks and Recreation, Season 5, Episode 1
The first episode of the new season did not deliver. I was saving it for a couple of days, cause I wanted to watch it before going to bed, and all I can say is: Meh.
This show works best when a normal, real-world story goes into absurdity. When characters in a sitcom start becoming caricatures of themsleves - but they’re unique and lovable to begin with - then you’re entering ‘Jump the Shark’ Territory.
Ron usually doesn’t act so impulsive. Will Andy go full retard? Is April supposed to be stupid? Will Leslie and Ben go into full cliched rom-com mode? They’re humans, not Muppets, and I hope the show’s writers keep that in mind.
…and that John McCain cameo was just, ugh, unnecessary.
