The Raid: Redemption is Certified Super Violent

This is the most violent movie I have ever seen. Welsh director Gareth Evans discovered an action movie goldmine in Indonesia, and it’s a good thing he did, because The Raid: Redemption is a kick-punch-shoot masterpiece. The plot is simple, but the emphasis here is on violence, as a special-forces team tries to get to a crime lord hidden in a huge apartment block filled with an army of mobsters. Not too many explosions, plenty of shooting and killing; but most of all, the Indonesian martial art of Pencak Silat is heavily featured, and provides some of the best fighting scenes ever captured on film. Definitely the best action film of the year. It’s merciless.
