Pop songs in 2011
…sucked. Total lack of imagination or originality. Rihanna, that Bruno Mars dude and a shitload of others whose names aren’t even worth mentioning managed to sink pop to a whole new low. The reason why pop music from the 80s dominates retro playlists (e.g. music from past decades) is because of its artistic value. Pop music of today makes even the slimiest 90s crap - boy bands,...

This is actually the best part of the Christmas Season. Couple of days after Christmas, before New Year. My Christmas tree isn’t going anywhere for weeks: I’m an atheist, but due to my mixed heritage, I’m allowed to celebrate both Catholic and Ortodox Christmas. Shout out to my man Jebus and The Great Spaghetti Monster in the Sky.

Christmas Movie Season: Christmas Vacation
Christmas isn’t Christmas without the Griswold family and National Lampoon’s Christmas vacation. To me, looking at Chevy Chase’s goofy face as he tries to make a perfect family Christmas is pure gold. Favorite quote: ‘The shitter was full!’.

Most overplayed song of 2011: Adele's Someone Like...
Someone Like You by Adele is the most overplayed song this year. It is so overplayed, that there is nothing special or beautiful left in this song, a melancholic tune that is supposed to make you shed a tear of whatever, it has become an audio enema. It’s on VH1 right now as I’m writing this. I hear it every day on my way to the gym, as it plays on the speakers at the mall. They play...

Christmas Movie Season: Gremlins
Ah, yes. This is one of the finest Christmas movies of all time, even though it’s a horror comedy. Especially the original one, it was more of a horror than a comedy. This comedic approach to the horror genre seen here was common during the 80s, you can see it in They Live and at the very end of the decade, in Tremors. Gremlins is a movie that holds dear memories, I still have it on VHS -...

Listened to the new Korn album again, realized it’s the completely wrong way of doing dubstep, as well as metal. Skrillex is the Mini Me to Jon Davis’ Dr. Evil. If you’ve known about dubstep for more than six months and if you know Korn from the days of their original line-up, this album is an abomination.

I mostly dislike jazz, and consider French jazz as its most annoying spawn. Fucking accordions and mimes and cigarette smoke mixed with heavy perfume.

Korn has a new album out
Listened to the new Korn album today. Meh. They’re riding on the dub step trend, with the explanation that they did dub step before it was called dub step. Anyway, if you’ve been a fan of Korn for more than ten years, skip this. It mostly sounds like Untouchables, only remixed. New, younger fans could eat this up, though. You can take Jonathan’s favorite phrases - ‘fucked...
